Insecurity: Uzodinma blamed for deteriorating extra-judicial killings in Okigwe communities in Imo

Must read

Comrade Anya S. Anya, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-two-time national vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has slammed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma over the deteriorating insecurity challenges ravaging many parts of the state.

Anya who currently doubled as the Southeast Coordinator of Coalition of Saraki Advocates for Atiku (COSAA), was baring his mind in a statement on Thursday, against the backdrops of a recent repeated onslaught on Aku Ihube and umulolo local communities in Okigwe local government area of the state by suspected operatives of Ebubeagu regional security outfit.

He noted without chauvinism and jingoism that Uzodinma-led government of the All Progressives Congress remains barbaric and worst in the history of the state’s political leadership and regretted that the present administration has failed to protect lives and properties of the citizens.

His words: “Let it be on record today, that Governor Hope Uzodinma has killed lives, and destroyed properties of innocent citizens in Okigwe, especially the law-abiding citizens that came back home for celebration during this festive period. Instead of joy, they’re now left in sadness, sorrow cum agony as of today.

“In line with this Aku, Ihube and Umulolo wards all in Okigwe LGA remains case studies of these repeated onslaughts on its citizens at the behest of the Governor’s directives. The verified information today remains that, Governor Hope Uzodinma as Chief Security Officer of Imo state has given his team players of Ebubeagu militia and the joint military forces order to completely killed lives (e.g Mr.Okwudili Moses, Mr. Sunday Emmi, etc) injured many others (e.g Mr. Ifeanyi Kawawa, Bro. Kizito Onwumere, etc)  and destroyed properties belonging to the families  (i.e Ogbakarioji Anya and Anya’s, Nze Okereke Ezealor, Sunday Ogojifor, Ike Paul and Brothers, Dike, Chukwunji, Emma Egwuonwu, Ikegwuonu Asuzor, Odoemelam, Okenna Uzoigwe, Edwin Uzoigwe, Paul Mmereonwu, Gaberial Onyeanusi, etc) amongst others in the villages of Aku, Umulolo and Ihube Ward all in Okigwe local government area  of Imo State.”

“The actions displayed in Aku, Ihube, Umulolo communities and Okigwe at large without proper investigations and evidence are to say that, had it been, all our siblings, family members, and others came back home for the celebrations of the festivities, it would now amount to more innocent citizens would have been killed by now.

“Ethnic and norms of security professionalism must be engaged on and practiced by all administration for future references,” he advised.

Continuing, Anya also regretted the actions by the APC-controlled administration in Imo State and further accused the state government of politicization the persisting security problems besetting the eastern state.

“In everything you do today as Government, don’t forget, that administration comes and administration goes, and Government continues. Soldiers come and soldiers go, and barracks remain. No matter the time available you must leave there one day; power remains transient.

“Furthermore, it is impossible for everyone in Imo State to belong to the APC as a political party, we must not all support your failed party that has impoverished the masses, led citizens into abject poverty, hardship and sufferings of the highest order. Citizens have their fundamental human rights and freedom of associations to belong to any political party of their choice”.

Anya however called on all well-meaning Nigerians, stakeholders, organizations, civil society groups, and international communities to come to the rescue of Innocent Okigwe citizens against the dictatorship and undemocratic principles currently being displayed by Governor Uzodinma.
