How I was attacked by suspected Ebubeagu operatives — Hotelier

Must read

The activities of Ebube Agu in Ebonyi State have continued to cause confusion in the state as a Lagos hotelier and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Chief Julius Ama Oji (alias Ochiri), has raised a fresh alarm, revealing how he narrowly escaped being shot last Saturday by men suspected to be Ebube Agu operatives.

He said two young men on his convoy, Samuel Okam and Michael Oji, were shot and are now being treated in a hospital.

Oji said he was on his way to his hometown when the attack occurred.

The Ebube Agu outfit in Edda had allegedly accompanied the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Stanley Oko Emegha, who is also the Chief Security Consultant of the regional outfit, to a burial at his hometown.

Oji said: “My convoy was attacked as I was coming from Senator Ogbuorji’s house on Saturday. Two people were shot. My security detail was very active so I just managed to escape. The two guys are still in the hospital receiving treatment.

“They shot at one of the cars following me and shot two guys on the bike, then they opened the car that was following and that was the car I use often. I used one of the Prado jeeps I brought from Lagos. It was the first time I would use it so I believe they did not know that I was not in the other car.

“I believe I was their target because they knew it was my convoy. I have reported the matter to the police. I called the Commissioner of Police myself,” he said.

Emegha asked if the reporter saw the people allegedly shot.

“Did you see the people, which hospital is there?” he queried before cutting the call.

Police spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, said the report had not been brought to him yet.

“I have not been officially informed. I only got the information when a journalist called to ask me,” he said.
