Must read

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said he cannot be suspended by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), daring the party to suspend him and face the consequences of its action.

The governor has vowed that his state would not support any politician who does not care about Rivers interest.

Governor Wike spoke on Friday night at the State Banquet hall while playing host to the Integrity Governors popularly called G-5 governors.

The G-5 comprising governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Wike have continued to request for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. According to them equity, fairness and justice would be the conditions to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2023 election.

Wike maintained that the G-5 governors were united and firm in their decision to rescue the country from bad leadership.

He declared that Rivers PDP would use the governorship campaign flag-off on Saturday to reaffirm that there is no other political party in the state.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State governor has challenged his counterparts in the Niger Delta zone to account for the huge sums of money they received as backlog for the 13 percent oil derivation since 1999, which was approved and paid by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier, Ortom maintained the stance of Integrity Governors for equity, fairness and justice, reiterating that they were not against reconciliation.

He thanked the Rivers governor for using projects commissioning to unite the state and Nigeria.
