A human rights activist, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has commended Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno for rewarding hard work and dedication of primary school teachers in the state, especially Abia-born, Mrs Obiageli Mazi.

Ezekwueme gave the commendation on Monday in Enugu while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the exemplary leadership qualities of encouraging hard work and dedication of Nigerians employed by the state government.

NAN recalls on that on Oct. 12, Zulum allocated the fully furnished 24 units of the houses at the teachers’ quarters at Bulumkutu along the Airport Road, Maiduguri, to primary school teachers from Maiduguri and Jere Local Education Authority (LEA).

One of the beneficiaries of the new teachers’ quarters is Mrs Mazi, who is a teacher at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 2 Primary School under Jere Local Government Education Authority for 31 years.

Earlier in Feb. 15, 2021, Zulum, a university professor, directed Mazi’s promotion from a class teacher to the rank of Assistant Headmistress as well as a cash gift of N100,000 as an executive reward for her punctuality and dedication.

Ezekwueme, who is the Chairman of Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in Anambra, said that he highly appreciated the unprecedented patriotism and selfless services to humanity of Zulum, who identifies hard working and dedicated civil servants and teachers in his state.

According to him, the governor has demonstrated in words and indeed that he is a detribalised Nigerian, patriot and statesman in extending such good gesture to Abia-born, Mrs Mazi.

“Pertinently, Gov. Zulum believes in the assertion of John Holmes that ‘the only good motive in life is the motive of doing good for ones country and her citizens’ has singled him out as rare and unique personality.

“Zulum typically portrays the hope of a new Nigeria of our dreams hope and aspirations.

“For allocating house to non-indigenes, especially Mrs Obiageli Mazi on merit, inclusiveness, unity and sense of belonging, there is hope for better, prosperous, united and secured Nigeria and Nigerians,” he said.

He called on the political leaders and civil servants to emulate patriotism, humility and selfless services of Gov. Zulum.

“It is clear that we all must follow Gov. Zulum’s examples if we want to actualise Nigeria of our dreams and aspirations in tandem with ideology and philosophy of our founding fathers,” he added. (NAN)
