2023 Guber: Ogah reveals plan towards achieving efficiency in state civil service

The Abia State Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has emphasized on the essence of repositioning the state civil service for  efficiency in the discharge of responsibilities.

Ogah who stated this while reeling out his agendas on civil service system in a statement at the weekend, maintained that the Abia civil service must receive utmost care to among other things to ensure continuity.

He reiterated the pressing need to reposition the civil service in Abia state through deliberate and consistent efforts by government as this will inspire incremental efficiency in the discharge of government business.

Ogah who described the civil service as the engine room of any government required to galvanize the success of an administration in power at any given time, said that regardless of the jaundiced experiences of the civil service in Abia state yet civil servants continue to discharge their assigned responsibilities in order to maintain the vital structure of the state.

The frontline governorship standard-bearer, said it’s pertinent to initiate key steps to bolster the civil service structure in Abia state, and promised to commence the implementation of the already designed reforms for the civil service in Abia state which primarily predicated on critical welfare for civil servants in the state upon assumption of duty as Abia governor by the will of ndi Abia.

According to him, “our plan to revitalize the civil service will see a marked increase in key performances indicators (KPIs) for Abia state’s civil service as they would become highly motivated to go over and beyond in their service to the state and the enhancement of our local economy.

Continuing, Ogah said, “in line with our plan for civil servants they should expect a deluge of largesse which comprises due promotions, approved allowances, sponsored training programmes, improved office environment, tailored and modernized conditions of service, special bonuses, gratuities and sustained pensions for those exiting the service among other incentives.

“I understand the yearnings and the yawning gaps that never gets filled in the lives and living situations of civil servants as i was born and raised in such a family”.

Ogah, who was also the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, promised that his administration will be thoroughly invested in forever changing the fortunes of civil servants in Abia, when elected in office as the governor of the state come 2023.

AFRIPOST recalls that Uche Ogah had on 26th of May 2022, emerged as the  Abia governorship standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the recently-concluded gubernatorial primary elections for the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Abia state.

Ogah was declared the winner of the just concluded gubernatorial primary elections after he scored 141,952 votes to beat his closest rival, Paul Ikonne who scored 27,054.

Other gubernatorial aspirants includes, Chief Ikechi Emenike who polled 9,446, Emeka Atuma with 7,429, Obinna Oriaku with 5,553, Alex Otti scored 2,41,  and Daniel Eke who got 1,953 at the keenly contested direct primaries.
