Oby Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s former minister has said that Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) despite belonging to the same political class as other contestants in the coming election has the pedigree to turn things around and remains a better candidate of the 3 front runners for Aso Rock.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics on Sunday, Ezekwesili said Peter Obi has what both Tinubu and Atiku don’t have.
Recall that the former minister has been an advocate of change in government and has been speaking since the abduction of the Chibok girls under the then Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. She was instrumental to the emergence of the current government but has since disowned the government over poor performance.
“Somebody says to you, between a cast of possible presidents that include the three frontrunners that we currently have – a possible President Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi – do you need anybody to tell you where you would be going? It would be an Obi.
“Regardless of the fact that he comes from that particular political class that we are talking about, he still at least represents many more shapes than the other two top candidates (in reference to Atiku and Tinubu),” she added.
The problem of the country, according to the former minister was that of bad leadership, expressing hope that the current political awakening in the country, especially among youths, will change the narrative for good.
