FG issues new circular, stops reopening of varsities

The Federal Government has made a U-turn on its directive to vice-chancellors, asking them to reopen universities, which had been shut due to the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

An earlier circular dated September 23, 2022, had directed vice-chancellors to reopen varsities.

The new circular has asked VCs to wait for further directives from the National Universities Commission.

AFRIPOST reports that the National Industrial Court had last Wednesday ordered lecturers to resume work immediately.

However, ASUU has appealed the judgement.
