Philanthropists, corporate organisations and the well to do individuals in the country have been told not to wait for the government before they provide basic amenities to the needy.

This advise was given by Mrs. Adebukola Kadiri while speaking in Jobele town in Oyo state.

Kadiri who is the Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Home Cemetery made this disclosure on Tuesday during the handing over of a borehole she donated to Jobele town.

The event was attended by Chairman of AFIJIO local government area, Hon. Sunday Akindele Ojo and Ajobele of Jobele, Oba Isaiah Sunday Okesanya and other dignitaries.

Kadiri while speaking said that government alone cannot provide the basic amenities such as water, electricity and other facilities to the people.

She said that there was a need for the well to do individuals and organisations to go to their host communities, identify their needs and assist them.

Kadiri said, “We need understand that government alone cannot provide the needs of the people. Organisations should go to their host communities and assist them.

“I am not from this local government area but I am earning my living in this local government area, I felt that it was necessary to give back to the community because I know that it will be useful to them”.

Kadiri while speaking further advised Nigerians to take proper care of their dead relatives the way it is done in other climes.

“I have traveled across the world, there was a time I was abroad and I saw people going to bury dog, I said what, ordinary dog. We can see the way they take care of animal not to talk about human being. That is why I said that we should take proper care of our dead ones.

“And even in Oyo state, people have been advised not to bury the dead in the compound again. We should go to the cemetery where they will be properly taken care of”.

Ojo in his remark, explained that portable water is indispensable, saying that the importance of water in a community cannot be over-emphasised.

“Water is life. Portable water is quite indispensable. The importance of portable water such as provided for the well-being of this community cannot be over-emphasised.

“On this note, it is my hope that all of us are going to reciprocate the kind gesture by making judicious use of it. I want to also admonish the Jobele community to maintain the utilisation of the borehole and its sustainability”.
