As the 2022 Eid-el-Kabir festival entered its third day, hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women from Kwara Central senatorial district, on Monday, thronged the Ilorin residence of the party’s national leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki to celebrate Sallah with him and also reaffirm their support for his leadership.

AFRIPOST recalls that the former Senate President has been hosting different categories of people including community leaders, groups and party loyalists, at his residence since his arrival for the Sallah celebration.

A statement released by Saraki’s Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir Shooto, noted that the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin expressed happiness at receiving the women and rejoiced with them for Sallah.

The PDP national leader lauded women for the roles they play in socio-political development of Kwara, describing them as indispensable.

While assuring the women of his support, Saraki urged them to be steadfast, united, focused, and well-coordinated, to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious at all levels in the 2023 general elections in the state.

“I have always appreciated the key roles you play within the party and in government, and that is why I always ensure that you take a place of pride in whatever we do.

“I put my trust in you Kwara women and I know with your support and concerted effort, we will win,” he added.

Speaking further, Saraki said, “The present government said a lot of negative things about me, all of which were false. Now it’s obvious to everyone that they lied.

“They have spent more than three years in office, which project have they executed? It is quite unfortunate. Our own records are there for all to see.”

He also assured the women that the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, if elected, will prioritise the welfare of the people and infrastructural development of the state.

Some of the women who took turns to speak, appreciated Saraki for his care, generosity and leadership role all the time, just as they assured him of their unalloyed support.

Also speaking, the PDP flagbearer, Yaman expressed delight at meeting the women in their large number, saying he was amazed by the passion and enthusiasm they exhibit. He promised to always prioritize their concerns.

“I must confess to you that I was moved to tears when I entered and saw the number of women here today. It reminds me of Baba Saraki’s days when political strength lies in women.

“You have also given me more confidence and hope that the era of misrule of the APC is over in Kwara come 2023. I am a son of Baba Saraki and I assure you of proper empowerment and welfare. Women shall take the front burner in my administration,” Yaman noted.
