At least 20 persons have been injured as a gas explosion went off at Sheka quarters in Kumbotso local government area of Kano State.
Reports have claimed that some shops have been razed as a result of the explosion.
The explosion reported to have gone off around 8pm on Thursday night at a gas cylinder refilling shop left residents of teh area to scamper for safety.Â
A resident of the area, Malam Idi said the gas exploded and went into flames leading to a number of casualties and the burning down of shops.

He said the incident affected mostly persons in the gas shop and other business owners in adjacent shops.
