2023: Group lauds YPP Onyekwere Akym Uche’s gubernatorial bid

A pro-democracy and pressure group, League of Young Media Professionals (LYMP), welcomed the aspiration of Hon Onyekwere Akym Uche, to run for the seat of the Governor of Abia State in the 2023 general election.

The group hinged its decision on a thorough assessment of his outstanding track records of Onyekwere in the private sector and philanthropy and as well as, community development which has immensely enhanced the livelihoods of the Abia people and non-indigent indigenes.

Rising from its well-attended enlarged meeting held at the Abia hotels Umuahia, the state capital on Friday, the professional body, which membership is drawn from the seventeen local government areas of Abia State, the professional body, reiterated the urgent importance to entrench purposeful and people’s oriented leadership anchored by youths, regretted at the continued recycling of old politicians in the leadership of Abia State.

This was contained in a communique jointly signed by its President, Comrade Samuel Aguiyi, the Secretary, Mr. Chimezie Gbaruko and Publicity Secretary, Chijindu Emeruwa, issued to journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Sunday.

The Media Professional body said the entry into the 2023 race by Onyekwere has rekindled hope of many people of the state to achieve a better Infrastructural and economically Abia State, and further lauded the courage of the latter tilted towards enthroning good governance at all stratus of the state without the interference of external pest who has selfish personal interests at heart.

According to the group, “there is no doubts that his government when elected as flagbearer in the upcoming party primaries and the main general election in 2023. He has demonstrated uncommon humility, courage genuineness, pragmatism and zeal including in the private sector-driven leaderships, and we, the League of Young Media Professionals (LYMP) have implicit confidence in Onyekwere Akym Uche, that he will bring and foster the desired changes in narratives of governance in Abia.

“His aspiration to become the next Governor of Abia State come 2023, has wakened the youths in the state, southeast zone, and the country and on political consciousness towards socio-economic and political happenings. The time is now to vote in youthful leaders with the needed and well-defined template and blueprint, the capacity, competence, expertise and wherewithal to develop Abia. No more having recycling old men and women in positions of leadership and authority in our society.

“We laud Onyekwere on his manifestos containing plans to build and achieve a “New Abia” which we can describe as people’s oriented and driven, and that his plans we raise the bar in economic and Infrastructural growth and development of Abia”.

The LYMP also disclosed that it shall be embarking on awareness with their various media houses to compel the state and national leadership of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), to field Onyekwere, as the standard-bearer for its forthcoming primary election, regretting that the successive administrations since the inception of the democratic government in the state and country in general.

“Onyekwere’s human qualities are incomparable and uncommon, and that distinguishes him from other gubernatorial aspirants jostling for the 2023 Abia governorship position. Even before now, he has raised the bar also in youths, men and women empowerment and development”, the pressure group also added.

The forum of media personnel further urged eligible Abia citizens and residents to visit various points or units designated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to register and revalidate for the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable them to install servant leaders at all levels of the political leadership in Abia State.

“PVC is the only weapon you can use to bring the needed change and good governance to your doorsteps, and we can only achieve the purpose if we register or revalidate for PVC with the electoral umpire in order to exercise their franchise. Install credible people to lead the state and foster the required socio-economic and Infrastructural growths in all local government areas of the state and for our general benefits and interest”.
