The Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, has declared that his experience as Vice President in the last seven years under President Muhammadu Buhari, has placed him on high pedestal to be the next President of Nigeria come 2023.

Osibanjo made this known at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace on Monday during his visit to the Emir on the sideline of his visit to the state to address APC delegates ahead of May 30 presidential primaries.

According to him, working under Buhari in the last seven years greatly exposed him to a series of security and economic challenges facing the country which has placed him in a better position to address them due to exposure and opportunities given to him under the current administration.

He noted that being the Vice President of Nigeria in the last few years was a great opportunity that has placed him in the front burner against other aspirants vying for the same office pointing out that as soon as he gets to the office in May 2023 he would kick the ground running for a more prosperous Nigeria.

The Vice President lauded the fatherly role of the Emir and sought his support towards his aspiration.

Osibanjo said that his respect and regard for the Emir and the Emirate informed his visit to the palace for his fatherly support.

Earlier, the state governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, said the Vice President had been a friend of Kwara State, noting that Osinbajo launched the social investment Programme and Owo Isowo scheme for the vulnerable and less privileged ones in the state.

The governor who led other state executive members including the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi, the Senators from Kwara North and South and the state party chairman, Sunday Fagbemi among others, said Osibanjo remains a living voice in Nigeria economic landscape.

Also, the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari lauded the vice president’s visit saying his aspiration was based on his past record which has earned him respect all over.

The Emir added that the challenges ahead of him were enormous and tasked him to rise up which he believes he could summon for the good of Nigeria.
