Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has joined the long list of contestants for the 2023 presidential election.
Jonathan, on Monday purchased the N100 million expression of interest and nomination forms to formally contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC), AFRIPOST is reporting.
The payment was confirmed in a letter by a commercial bank and addressed to the national organising secretary of the APC on Monday.
There have been speculations that the former president was being wooed by the APC leadership to join the party, a development the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had earlier frowned at.
Jonathan handed to the incumbent Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 after he failed to defeat the current president.
He had willingly given up power without any legal tussle, with the statement that his ambition was not worth the life of any Nigerian.
It’s believed that Buhari is behind Jonathan’s aspiration.
It’s yet clear if he is constitutionally qualified for the office after having been in charge for nearly two tenures.
