Gov AbdulRazaq mourns veteran broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state, has commiserated with the families and associates of veteran broadcaster Mrs. Yemi Ademokoya who died on Saturday after a brief illness.

“With total submission to the will of God, we mourn with the immediate and professional families and associates of the veteran broadcaster who bestrode the airwaves for decades. She was a core professional and patriot who remained true to the ethics of her job till her last breath.

“She was a sage in her own right. Her passion for ethical broadcasting was immeasurable. We will miss her,” the statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye stated in Ilorin on Sunday.

“We especially send our heartfelt commiserations to Radio Kwara, the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the  National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) where she served as one of its leaders in Kwara State until her passing. We pray to the Almighty God to comfort the families she left behind.”

In its own condolence message, the state NUJ Council, said it received the sudden death of one of the vibrant veteran journalists in the state with shock and disbelief.

It said the council will not forget her vibrancy even in retirement as she contributed positively to the journalism profession.

The council described the death of Ademokoya as a colossal loss to the broadcasting industry and journalism profession.

In a similar condolence message, state chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists, NALVEJ, Tunde Akanbi, described the death of Ademokoya as saddening and unfortunate.

In a statement in Ilorin on Sunday, Akanbi, lamented the loss of one of the active, committed and vibrant members of the association of senior journalists in the state.

“The entire media practitioners in Kwara state and Nigeria will miss the wise counsel of late Ademokoya,” the statement added.

It commiserated with the immediate and extended family of the deceased, the league and NUJ at both national and state levels over the death of the broadcaster.
