Professor Ben Ayade, Cross River State Governor, has declared he would be running for president in 2023. This follows a consultative visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Ayade who met with President Buhari to discuss his interest in taking over from him said he got the node of the president.
Recall that Ayade hard gone into a legal battle after he defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The governor, however, won the legal battle after some earlier conflicting judgments.
Disclosing his intention, Ayade said he would concentrate on power, security and economic challenges if he grabs the APC ticket and goes ahead to win at the general elections.
He, however, said he was loyal and ready to give up his ambition and team up with anybody President Buhari says is his choice.
He revealed further that if former president, Goodluck Jonathan declares to run for presidency, he would happily support him and, that is, if he becomes the anointed candidate of the party.
