2023: My governorship bid hinged on capacity, innovation not zoning – Atuma

Must read

Hon Emeka Atuma,  ex-member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Atuma, has joined the Abia State gubernatorial race on the platform of the All Progressive Congress ahead of the general election in 2023 in Nigeria.

This is even though he said that his governorship bid is founded on capacity, innovation, and not on the basis of zoning arrangement.

Recall that the Atuma represented the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia between 2003 to 2007, and was elected then on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during the meeting of Abia leaders, stakeholders and members of the All Progressive Congress at his Ntalakwu Oboro country-home in IKwuano Local Government Area of the state, Atuma hinted that his ambition to become governor of the state is shrouded in the yearnings of Abia populaces for the enthronement of responsive, quality and people’s-oriented leadership, opining that he possessed the needed capacity and ability to address most of the people’s yearnings,

According to him, “my aspiration for the governorship of Abia State is based on a two-fold premise; His vision for an Abia that fulfils the yearnings of Abians; and his capacity and ability to right the wrongs of yester-years.

“I made up my mind to join the governorship race for Abia State because a lot has gone wrong in our beloved State, and for the sake of our children and generations yet unborn, we need to contribute our all we have to right these wrongs.

“I am aspiring for Abia’s governorship because I have the capacity, the ability, the creativity needed to take Abia to the next level”, he stated.

Atuma continued, “My aspiration is motivated by compassion and innovation. I am coming to deliver a legacy of service to our people. Our people say a good name is better than gold. If today, I fail to contribute to the building of a better Abia what legacy would I leave for our children and generations yet unborn?

The governorship hopeful reiterated that he joined the race for the highest political office not on basis of zoning arrangement but on the vision for an Abia that places the welfare of the citizens as the number one priority.

His words, “my politics has always been one of competence, creativity and dynamism, I am not running based on zoning, my vision as governor of Abia is a State that places the welfare of the people as its number one priority, a State that is in the forefront of wealth creation for its people, a State that uses its wealth for the betterment of all”.

However, while speaking also during the event, the immediate past Abia Chairman of the APC  and former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, applauded Atuma’s gubernatorial bid and also described the former member of the National Assembly as dependable fellow, endowed with dynamism, creativity, visions to articulate and provide the needs of the people.
