2023: Don’t vote for those lying that youths bought nomination forms for them – Obasanjo tells Nigerians

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has advised Nigerians not to vote for presidential aspirants claiming that their nomination forms were purchased for them by some group of people.

Many aspirants who have purchased their nomination forms have claimed that some groups, especially youths purchased their nomination forms for them.
One nomination form to contest for the presential election under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, costs N40m.

But Obasanjo, while speaking during a colloquium to mark the 61st birthday of Pastor Itua Ighodalo in Lagos, said such aspirants lied to Nigerians and should be abandoned by voters in the coming 2023 elections.

Obj accused politicians of being Nigeria’s major problem due to their bad leadership style, arguing that youths cannot afford the N40 million nomination form as claimed by the aspirants, hence they have lied to Nigerians.

He said, “Today, they are paying N40m. Some of them (aspirants) even said it is some youths who bought it for them.

“In fact, anybody who would come out to tell you such a lie, you shouldn’t vote for him. Which youths gathered N40m? If you want to buy it, buy it and tell us. You don’t need to lie to us.”
