The Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah, has applauded the Federal Executive Council for the approval of funds for the completion and rehabilitation of road projects in some parts of the country.

Recall that Federal Executive Council had on Wednesday, approved over 13 billion for the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Uturu-ABSU-Akara road in Abia State.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, revealed this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the Council meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The stretch of the Uturu-ABSU-Akara road is about 24km, and its recent approval for the commencement of rehabilitation work on the deplorable road was attracted by Nigerian Minister of State for Mines and Abia representative in the federal cabinet Abuja, Dr Uche Ogah.

However, Dr Ogah, while reacting to the latest development in a statement personally signed on Wednesday, and forwarded to AFRIPOST by his media aide, Chijioke Udeogu, on Thursday, expressed profound appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for granting the approval of rehabilitation work on the dilapidated and busy Uturu-ABSU-Akara road in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state.

The Minister also extended his immense gratitude to Works and Housing, counterparts, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) and Alhaji Muazu Sambo, for lending hands to the actualization of the laudable feat.

The statement partly read, “Though a state road, Dr Uche Ogah had ensured that it was taken over by the Federal Government for its rehabilitation by Eighteen Engineering International Limited (a reputable govt-owned Chinese Construction Company).

“This road, constructed over 40 years ago, has deteriorated and has affected socio-economic activities, and  also has been dotted by gully-erosions which made it become a security-risk as kidnappers and bandits take advantage of failed portions of the road to perpetrate evil.

“As a result of this feat, Ogah added that he had attracted other federal projects in Abia state like the 80-bed General Hospital, ICT Centre at Government College Umuahia, Skill Acquisition Centres, Job creations for Abians, Economic empowerment, etc.

“I enjoin the people of Abia state to continue to show support to this administration, in order to continue delivery of more sustainable dividends of democracy.”
