Abia chieftain dumps APC, Gov Ikpeazu offers him appointment

Agu Ndukwe Orji, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, has dumped the opposition party in Abia state and announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

He also resigned as Director General of the OUK Movement, political structure of the current Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and former Governor of Abia, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Recall that Ndukwo Agu had in 2018 defected to the All Progressive Congress from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party alongside with former member of the National Assembly, Hon Arua Arunsi who represents Ohafia/Arochukwu federal constituency of Abia state at the House of Representatives to rally support for 2019 senatorial bid of the ex-governor, now senator representing Abia North Senatorial district in the Senate.

On backdrops of the latter’s return to the Peoples Democratic Party, the State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Monday, approved the appointment of Engr Agu Ndukwe Orji as General Manager of Abia State Road Maintenance Agency (ABROMA).

The Abia Chief Executive also approved the appointments of Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba, as his Deputy Chief of Staff.

This was contained in a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Chris Ezem and issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital on Monday.

“The two appointments take immediate effect”, the release stated.
