Tension in APC as Buhari allegedly removes Buni, replaces caretaker chairman with Bello

Must read

Nigeria Police have now taken over the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja following report that Buhari had removed the Caretaker Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), of the party Mai Mala Buni and replaced him with his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sani Bello.

Those opposing Buni among the APC governors have allegedly complained bitterly to the president that Buni was not inclined to hold the convention as rescheduled because nothing is currently on ground to ensure a successful convention.

However, the police cordoned off the secretariat as early as around 8 am on Monday.

About 80 policemen stormed the APC with 11 vehicles and cordoned off the secretariat of the party at Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Bello has arrived at the party secretariat to take over as the sole administrator.

He is already in a meeting with nine out of the 12 members of the Caretaker Committee of the party.

Buni is currently out of the country to attend to his health.
