Benue 2023: How I will form my cabinet – Guber aspirant, Akase

Must read

Benue state governorship aspirant and immediate past Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said that he will ensure youth inclusiveness in his government if he becomes the governor come 2023.

Optimistic Akase, however, said he would ensure a balance between youths and experienced individuals.

In an exclusive chat with afripost.ng, Akase said even though youths will have a lot of opportunities under his government, it cannot be 100 percent youths. He, however, said that even if his government will be bringing experienced people, they will be those who will be in tune with the current trend in the global economy and not people who will not understand where the world is heading, “So there will be a balance,” he said.

The former CPS said:  “I have already spoken about this on other platforms. Leadership is like a game – maybe football. You have to balance youths with experience. Yes, youths will have a lot of opportunities in our administration, but that doesn’t mean that it will be 100 percent youths.

“Youths will have a good percentage but we will also look at people who will not be very old but still competent to marry their experience with that of the vibrant young minds. The world is headed towards digitization of all sectors, even in Agriculture, education and others. So we need minds that would be able to appreciate the current movement.

“Even if we are bringing experienced people, they will be those who will be in tune with the current trend in the global economy and not people who will not understand where the world is. Because of COVID-19, it has become mandatory that most meetings should be done virtually, whether bilateral or executive council meetings. So if you have someone who does not understand what it means to do a zoom meeting, a video conference call, a webEX call, and all others, then you are in trouble, because the person will not be able to appreciate or understand what it means to occupy the position he occupies. That will be the crux of our decision in terms of who we appoint into government.

“The young minds would be blended with experience but those experienced people will be people who will understand modern technology that will be helpful to our government,” Akase said.
