I’m stepping down as Super Eagles Coach – Eguavoen

Must read

Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen will not continue as the national team coach.

This is coming after the Super Eagles lost to the Carthage of Tunisia in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Eagles had won three of their matches in the tournaments, winning against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in the group stage of the competition, but were defeated by the lowly rated Tunisian side on Sunday night.

“What happens next is that I’m the interim coach and Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“I will go back to my position and allow the NFF (to) make a decision on the way forward,” Eguavoen said after the match.

Eguavoen was given a temporary job after Gernot Rohr was sacked last month. However, the NFF announced Jose Peseiro as the new permanent coach before the AFCON kicked off.
