Igoche Mark plans big for domestic basketball in 2022

Igoche Mark, Chairman of Mark Mentors Basketball Club of Abuja, has promised to resurrect the dying domestic basketball leagues across the country in 2022.

Mark’s promise is contained in a statement signed by his media aide, Kingsley Aigbonoga, on Sunday in Abuja.

He revealed that plans were already in top gear to ensure that alot of tournaments were organised in order to keep the players busy and in top shape.

“We have concluded plans to make 2022 a year filled with numerous basketball championships/invitational tournaments.

“This is in order to make up for dearth/deficit experienced during the reign of those who led basketball in Nigeria before now.

“In the coming days, the timetable will be made available to the public.

“The ‘New Phase of Basketball Movement’ is ready to make up for the short comings in the last four years of basketball administration in the country.

“Certainly, our domestic league will become an envy to many,” the statement said.

NAN reports that Mark, who is vying for a ticket to represent the north central zone ahead of elections into the new board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) stressed that his goal was development of basketball at the grassroots.

“I will like to concentrate on developing basketball at the grassroots because I believe in catching them young.

“I also believe that once we have enough basketball courts available in the country, more youths will pick interest in the game,” he said. (NAN)
