Unknown gunmen, suspected to be armed kidnappers have reportedly abducted a Professor of paediatrics, Prof. Sylvernus Edache Okpe of the renowned University of Jos, Plataeu State.
The incident happened along Otukpo – Otukpa road around 7pm on Wednesday while the don was heading to his home town in Otukpa, the Ogbadibo LG headquarters.
According to source, the newly appointed Head of Paediatrics Department of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Otukpo, was on his way to Otukpa after a meeting at Otukpo when the incident happened.
Efforts to confirm the report from the Benue State Police Command proved abortive as the phone number of the PRO, ASP Anene Sewuese Catherine was constantly not reachable.
His abductors, according to source, have since contacted the family for a yet to be disclosed ransom.
