Insecurity: Pope Francis expresses concern, support for Nigeria

Pope Francis has declared his support and readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government of Nigeria to end insecurity in the country and sub-Saharan Africa.

Vatican City in a statement said the Pontiff gave the assurance after he received a letter of credence from the Nigerian Ambassador to the Holy City, Paul Oga Adikwu.

He commended the effort put so far in the fight against insecurity by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, as he promised to assist with prayers.

ā€œThe Holy Father, Pope Francis, expressed readiness to collaborate with Nigeria to overcome the security challenges currently witnessed in the sub-Saharan region.

ā€œPope Francis appreciates the effort of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to combat security challenges witnessed in some parts of the country.

ā€œThe Holy Father said the problem is not just a Nigerian problem, but a global one, saying he will personally be involved in praying for Nigeria to overcome the situation,ā€ Vatican City said.
