President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of former President of Niger Republic, Mamadou Tandja.
The ex-president died on Tuesday at the age of 82 after years of illness.
Reacting to the death, Buhari said Niger has lost a veteran leader with rich military, political and administrative experience.
The Nigerian leader wished President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic, Tandja’s family and others the fortitude to bear the loss.
“The thoughts of the government and people of Nigeria are with the entire people of Niger in this period of sadness,” Buhari’s condolence statement issued by spokesman, Garba Shehu, read.
