Ortom launches sale of Tractors for Benue farmers at subsidised rate

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, on Thursday, launched the sale of 50 units of Tractors for interested farmers in the state.

Ortom explained that each of the Tractors cost Thirteen Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Naira (N13,997,000.00).

However, Ortom said the state government has decided to subsidise each of the Tractors by 60% of the total cost.

“My dear good people of Benue State, the Tractors being launched today were procured at the cost of N13,997.000.00 (Thirteen Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Naira) per unit and are highly subsidised by Government.

“Beneficiaries are therefore to pay only 40% of the cost of the Tractors, while the State Government pays the remaining 60% of the cost

“This implies that of the subsidised cost, beneficiaries will pay the sum of N5,600,000.00 per tractor, while Government will bear the remaining 60% cost of N8,397,000.00 (Eight Million, Three Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Naira) per unit of Tractor. This gesture is to enable our farmers afford the Tractors.”
