Ogbadibo Chairmanship Crisis: TeamGad Reacts To Purported Endorsement Of Onuh As Sole Candidate

The attention of teamGad has been drawn to a purported endorsement of the caretaker chairman of Ogbadibo LGA Hon. Prince Onuh as the sole candidate for the chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming Council elections in Benue State.

Onuh had on Sunday made a Facebook post on his alleged endorsement.

“A NEW OGBADIBO IS POSSIBLE.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate all those who contributed to the amicable resolution of the political logjam within the Owukpa PDP that climaxed in my endorsement as the sole candidate of the Party for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming local government election.

“I promise not to betray the trust reposed in me by your kind gesture.

“I commend the maturity and understanding of other aspirants who earlier indicated interest in contesting the party primaries.
“Power belong to God and if you have been predestined for this position, God will surely bring it to pass at his own time.

“I thank the leadership of our great party both at the local government and the State for creating an enabling environment for democracy to thrive. I promise to continuously contribute my quota towards strengthening our party and deepening our democracy.

“Finally, I want to assure every indigene of Ogbadibo that I will continue to do my very best at all times to make sure everyone associated with our local government is proud of this great inheritance.
“Thank you once again.

Afripost recalls that the chairmanship position has been zoned to Owukpa Community by the Council PDP stakeholders and Owukpa Party stakeholders had, in turn, during one of her stakeholders’ meetings in Otukpo zoned the chairmanship position to Itabono Ward 1 but Onuh who is from Ehaje Ward 1 also indicated interest and bought the party form to contest the position.

Following a petition on the contention from Itabono Ward 1 party executives/stakeholders to the Benue State governor, Dr Samuel Ortom and the PDP state chairman, Hon John Ngbede, a committee was set up to resolve the issue between Onuh and other aspirants from the Itabono Ward 1. A meeting to this effect was called in Owukpa but ended in deadlock and it is not clear if the expected report from the meeting has been submitted to the Governor’s committee.

Reacting to the post on the alleged endorsement, TeamGad said, “ordinarily we would have ignored this latest shenanigan as usual if not that the claim was posted on the personal facebook page of Hon. Prince Onuh. While we would not want to join issues with Hon. Onuh for obvious reasons, we would like to state for the umpteenth time for the sake of our teeming supporters and the unsuspecting public as follows:

“Zoning remains sacrosanct and the position of the chairman of Ogbadibo LG has been zoned to Itabono ward 1.

“Comrade Gad Peter is fully in the race and remains focused in his campaign in anticipation of competing with his fellow brothers from Itabono Ward 1 for the top job.

“Any such rumours of stepping down or anything along those lines of Comrade Gad should be roundly ignored henceforth.

“We are fully committed to the project of making Ogbadibo great again and want to thank all those who have been calling to encourage us as well as work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this project a reality”.
