Police Arraign 5 Men For Allegedly Assaulting Neighbour

The police on Wednesday arraigned five men in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting their neighbour.

The police charged Onyebuchi Bishop, 32; Adewale Sadeeq, 31; Abdulraheem Hamza, 34; Finubi Ojebowale, 47; and Abdulazeez Usman, 35, all of UTC market, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, with joint act, criminal force, theft and assault.

The prosecution counsel, S.I Nwafoaku, told the court that the complainant, Nelson Ogbonnay, also  of UTC market, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on Aug. 17.

He alleged that the defendants beat up the complainant in his shop, after calling him names.

Nwafoaku further the complainant lost N35,000 cash and three of his art works valued at N420,000 were stolen.

The defendants however, denied committing the offence.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 265, 288 and 327 the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Ahmed Ndajiwo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the matter until Sept.27 for hearing. (NAN).
