Otobo Wins Chairmanship Of ODA Kubwa/Dutse Branch

A formal councillorship aspirant of Itabono Ward I in Owukpa, Ogbadibo local government area of Benue State, Hon David Abakpa Otobo (popularly called “ Hon. Owujechoni”) has, during the week, won the chairmanship election of Kubwa/Dutse (Abuja) branch of Owukpa Development Association, ODA.

The election which took place on Sunday featured four contestants among who was a former chairman of the Association that vowed to test his popularity despite advice from the stakeholders that he should step down from the race for lack of integrity.

During the test of popularity, the former chairman who had spent all his earnings on calls, drinks and homages to the stakeholders in desperation to become the next chairman got a total of 9 votes while Otobo won with 31 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Otobo thanked Owupka for the opportunity given him to serve them in that capacity and promised he would not disappoint them while soliciting for the members unreserved supports. He also congratulated the aspirants for testing their popularities and urged them to work with him to take the branch to the next level.

“I am honestly overwhelmed! Most faces here I am seeing them for the first time and that initially gave me fear that I might not be the popular candidate. I didn’t do any campaign but I heard how far my opponent went.

“I considered it unworthy for anything of such because I am aware that it is not a paid position but rather a stewardship service to our dear community, Owukpa. I have nothing but I have integrity and image to protect and based on that I will keep my promise.

“I cannot achieve anything without your support, hence, I humbly solicit for your supports to make this place an enviable branch of ODA in Abuja and elsewhere. Yes, it is possible and we can do it!

“To all of us that indicated interest in the chairmanship position right from Itabono Meeting, congratulations. The victory is for all of us. Let us come together in love and unity to take this ODA branch to the next level. Thank you all”.
