….stakeholders to stop Risking The Image of The Party in 2019

A Civil Society Network for Good Governance, a platform whose focus is working in diverse thematic areas for peace in Nigeria through institution strengthening has urges politicians to stop illegal manipulations and plotting to substitute names on INEC’s List for interest of democracy. The group deemed it fit to relate to the different political parties and politicians following the recent public outcry and protests witnessed at party secretariats.

“Some desperate politicians are attempting to change the names of candidates already submitted ahead of the 2019 elections.”

Speaking on behalf of the group ,Mr. Ikpa told pressmen that, ‘since the primaries has been conducted and a winner emerges, politicians ought not to manipulate the list despite the deadline .’

The group task INEC leadership not to tolerate such act, but reject such lists.

“The deadline given by INEC for official submission of names by all the political parties had since elapsed and any other thing to the contrary at this time is a clear act of illegality,” he said. Since primaries are concluded and initial winners emerged, ICT Centre of INEC should resist any illegal name(s) by desperate politicians in collusion with the leadership of their political parties

It was alleged that some incumbent members of the national assembly are still laying siege to the Aso Drive residence of the chairman of one of the major political parties to put pressure on him to sign new CF002 forms to facilitate the illegal substitution of names.

“Candidates whose names have been officially selected through democratic process ,submitted to INEC by their political parties , umpires are not to allowed to be tampered with.” The group maintained.
