A suspected student of Crown Polytechnic, Odo Ado-Ekiti, Ayodeji Oluwatosin had on Tuesday abandoned her baby at the Tayo-Tayo Medical Clinic and Maternity Centre, a private hospital in Ilawe-Ekiti after delivering her of a baby boy.
Oluwatosin was reportedly impregnated by her lover who abdicated his responsibilities as soon as she conceived.
It was gathered that Oluwatosin had earlier planned to deliver the baby on Campus where she would easily do away with the baby to save her stress but her plan was aborted when she came to the hospital for a medical checkup and Doctor confirmed she was due for delivering on the same day.
She was successfully delivered of the baby but disappeared and abandoned the baby some hours later in the Hospital.
An eye witness, Gbadura Oluwasola said though Oluwatosin used fake names and address to check into the hospital, investigation revealed she was a student of Crown Polytechnic, Odo, Ado-Ekiti and a native of Ondo town, in Ondo State.
The incident had since been reported at Ilawe-Ekiti Police Station and investigation is on the way to get the student and her lover. All effort to get the DPO of the Station proved abortive as his mobile number was constantly switched off.
The baby is currently in the custody of the Hospital management while investigation is on-going.
Meanwhile, the baby may soon be taken to the Motherless home, Iyin-Ekiti by the chairperson of Ekiti South West Local Government, Mrs. Florence Omolase who came to the hospital this morning in company of Hon. Olanrewaju Olatunde, the vice chairman of the LG on the invitation of the doctor in charge of the hospital.
