NCC Establishes SERVICOM Networking Standing Committee

Must read

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) says it has established Service Compact (SERVICOM) Networking Standing Committee to ensure satisfactory service delivery to consumers and monitoring of providers.

The NCC made this known in a statement on its website on Thursday in Abuja.

SERVICOM was formally instituted as a machinery to ensure the delivery of effective public service in the country by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS) of government in 2004.

It said that the committee consisted of representatives from various departments and zonal offices in the commission.

“The commission has established the SERVICOM Networking Standing Committee which comprise representatives from the various departments in the commission and the zonal offices.

“We have also developed the NCC/SERVICOM Integrated Service Charter which has been approved by the National SERVICOM Coordinator.

“The Integrated Charter shall be reviewed from time to time based on consultations and feedback from stakeholders to ensure its continued relevance,” it said.

According to the statement, service delivery, service expectations, complaints and grievance redress mechanism are part of the strategies deployed to improve the commission’s delivery.

The commission had also put in place the necessary licensing and regulatory frameworks for the supply of telecommunications services.

NCC said it had further initiated projects like the State Accelerated Broadband Initiative (SABI) and Emergency Communication Centres across the nation to help stimulate demand and accelerate the uptake of ICT, internet penetration and Broadband services.
