Tragedy struck Sepeteri in Oyo State as a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, allegedly killed his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, 52, after accusing him of shooting him in a dream.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Command described it as a tragic development reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters in Sepeteri.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, the case was reported by one Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri, who alleged that the suspect attacked his brother over claims that the deceased had shot him in a dream the previous night.
The police said the suspect allegedly confronted the victim while he was seated, picked up a heavy stone and smashed it on his head before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri, where a medical doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
The statement added that officers from the Ago-Amodu Division visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.
The command disclosed that the suspect had been arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime, adding that he was cooperating with investigators.
It further revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, had directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation, assuring residents that justice would be pursued in line with the law.
