The Publicity Secretary of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Comrade Kola Olomide has been elected as the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa chapter.
Olomide, a veteran journalist was elected alongside other executive members.
Afripost reports that the election took place at the weekend.
The polytechnic which is located in Ibarapa geopolitical zone is one of the tertiary institutions own by Oyo State government.
Those that were elected to steer the affairs of the union are Chairman, Comrade Kola Olomide, Vice Chairman Engineer Dipo Olagunju, Secretary Engineer Adewale Alabi and Assistant Secretary, Comrade Akin Adekanmbi.
Others are; Treasurer, Dr. Wole Ogunjobi, Auditor Engineer Wale Olawoore, Public Relations Officer, Dr Jare Alabi, Financial Secretary Comrade Taiwo Odusina and Welfare Officer Mrs Tomi Adewole.
Olomide in his acceptance speech, commended members of the union for their support.
He used the opportunity to pledge that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.

Olomide said, “My dear leaders and colleagues in the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa chapter. I am profoundly overwhelmed and deeply humbled by the confidence you have reposed in me by electing me as the new Chairman of our great Union, (ASUP), Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa Chapter.

‎”I stand on the shoulders of giants, and I must first acknowledge the sacrifices and struggles of our past leaders who have brought our chapter to this enviable height. Your approval at the polls is not just a vote for me, but a mandate to serve, to protect our collective interests and to uphold the dignity of our profession.

‎”I do not take this responsibility lightly. I am aware of the tasks ahead, the challenges are many, but with unity, intellectual rigour and the spirit of comradeship that define ASUP, we shall navigate them together. This victory is ours collectively. I look forward to working with every one of you—the Executive Committee and the Congress to build a stronger, more vibrant and progressive union”.
