President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan as a period to pray for peace and deepen compassion across communities.
In a goodwill message marking the commencement of the fasting season, the Senate President urged the Muslim faithful in Nigeria and around the world to embrace spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to harmonious coexistence.
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio encouraged adherents of Islam to allow the sacred period to inspire personal growth and collective responsibility.
“As the Muslim community prepares to observe the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my warmest greetings and felicitations to all Muslims in Nigeria and around the world,” he said.
Furthermore, he stressed that Ramadan should serve as a season of introspection and moral rejuvenation.
“I wish to urge the Muslim ummah to use this sacred period as a time for spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and renewal,” he added.
Emphasising the broader significance of the fasting month, Akpabio noted that the observance offers an opportunity to reinforce values of compassion and understanding.
“I encourage you to utilise this occasion to strengthen your faith, practice compassion, and promote peace and understanding,” he said.
Moreover, the Senate President expressed hope that the season would usher in blessings for families and the nation at large. He prayed that the period would foster unity, stability, and prosperity.
“May this Ramadan bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to your families and Nigeria at large. I wish you a peaceful and spirit-filled exercise, and may your fasting, prayers, and good deeds be accepted by Allah,” he said.
He concluded by extending best wishes to Muslims observing the fast, expressing optimism that the season would reinforce national cohesion and spiritual renewal.
