Must read

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the official timetable and schedule for the 2027 general elections, setting dates for presidential, governorship and legislative polls across the country.

The announcement was made on Friday during a press conference held in Abuja, where the commission clarified earlier reports claiming that the election timetable had already been released.

Speaking at the briefing, the commission’s chairman, Joash Amupitan, dismissed the earlier publications as inaccurate, stressing that the newly unveiled timetable followed due constitutional and legal procedures.

He explained that the schedule was prepared in compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 as amended, noting that the commission remained committed to transparency and adherence to the law.

According to him, the presidential election will be conducted on February 20, 2027, while governorship, senatorial and other elections are scheduled to take place on March 6, 2027.
