The media office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has faulted a publication attributed to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, describing it as false and misleading.
The article, titled “Between Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,” was dismissed by Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, as a fabrication.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Shaibu characterised the write-up as “a shameless concoction of a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip.”
He said the claims contained in the publication, including alleged negotiations over a vice-presidential ticket, discussions about a N10bn contribution, zoning arrangements and a supposed secret meeting in Dubai, were entirely untrue.
According to him, Atiku’s political consultations are national in outlook and guided by principles, not the “transactional theatrics” portrayed in the report.
“The story is not insider information. It is insider fiction manufactured to mislead, distract and provoke,” the statement read, urging members of the public to disregard the claims.
Shaibu also took a swipe at individuals he accused of seeking relevance by circulating unfounded political narratives about prominent national figures.
He added that Atiku remains committed to what he described as principled engagement and national renewal, rather than what he termed backroom drama driven by attention seekers.
