A security guard at Dominion School in Aba, Abia State, has been arrested by police over allegations of defiling a three-year-old pupil.
The suspect, whose name was withheld, was captured in a video that surfaced on Saturday via the YouTube channel @ChuksErike, where he appeared to confess to the alleged crime.
In the footage, viewed on Tuesday evening, the suspect was heard stating, “I will not do it again,” and claimed the act happened “only once” when questioned about the frequency.
He further alleged that the incident took place after the child asked to use the toilet, adding that he reportedly enticed her away before perpetrating the act.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, Mrs Maureen Chinaka, informed PUNCH Metro that investigations were ongoing.
“The matter is presently under investigation and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,” Chinaka disclosed.
The incident has reignited fears over the protection of minors in educational institutions, as reports of sexual abuse involving children persist despite the adoption of criminal legislation across various states.
