Must read

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has designated Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as a work-free day for civil servants and private sector employees throughout the state.

The announcement, made public on Monday through a statement by Mukhtar M. Gidado, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, indicates that the holiday will allow residents to participate fully in commemorative activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary.

Governor Mohammed characterized the milestone as a moment for reflection on the state’s historical trajectory and achievements while strengthening bonds among its diverse population.

The governor has called on citizens to devote portions of the day to prayers for continued peace, economic prosperity, and developmental progress across Bauchi State.

As part of the anniversary observance, residents have been instructed to plant a minimum of one tree each, a measure designed to promote environmental conservation, halt desertification, and preserve natural resources for coming generations.

Governor Mohammed urged the populace to mark the occasion responsibly, maintaining peace and displaying both patriotic spirit and civic consciousness.

He reaffirmed his government’s dedication to transparent governance, equitable development, and programmes designed to enhance living standards for all residents.

Personnel in essential services have been exempted from the work stoppage and are expected to remain on duty to maintain public safety and security.

The governor is expected to deliver a statewide address at 7:00 a.m. today in observance of the Golden Jubilee, commemorating five decades since Bauchi State’s establishment.
