Renowned Zaria Islamic scholar, Sheikh Khalifa Usman Idris, popularly known as Rigi-Rigi, has died, his family confirmed on Monday.
The cleric’s death was announced by his son-in-law, Malam Abubakar Ɗanyaro, who said Sheikh Idris passed away on Sunday night at a private hospital in Kaduna.
Ɗanyaro added that the funeral prayer will hold on Monday after Asr prayer at the late cleric’s residence in the Kusfa area of Zaria.
Before his transfer to the private facility in Barnawa, Kaduna, Sheikh Idris had been receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in the state.
Rigi-Rigi was widely admired for his humorous preaching style, with videos of his sermons circulating widely on social media and attracting a large following.
