The Federal Government has apologised to passengers and other stakeholders following a power outage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at the weekend.
The apology was issued through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, which manages the airport, after electricity supply was disrupted at Terminal 1.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, FAAN attributed the incident to a technical fault in the terminal’s power changeover circuit.
The authority explained that the outage occurred during a routine changeover process, leading to a temporary loss of electricity at the terminal.
FAAN said its technical team was immediately mobilised to address the fault and transfer power supply to the secondary grid.
It added that backup systems were also activated to minimise disruption and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
The authority expressed regret over the incident, apologising to passengers and stakeholders for the inconvenience caused and assuring them that efforts were made to promptly stabilise operations at the terminal.
