The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in Oyo State has enjoined the faction of the party led by Tanimu Turaki to stop pursuing futile legal battle.
Chairman of the committee, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso made this declaration via a statement made available to journalists.
The statement was made available to Afripost Friday evening.
Recall that a Federal High Court in Ibadan on Friday, nullified the Turaki-led PDP National Convention held in Ibadan in November last year.
The court, led by Justice Uche Agomoh, ruled that the convention and its outcomes were illegal and nullified.
The court affirmed the caretaker committee as the lawful governing body of the party.
This decision upholds the earlier judgments of Justices Omotosho and Lifu, which stopped the convention last year. The suit, initiated by the Turaki-led group, sought to legitimise their National Working Committee elected at the contentious convention.
Akinoso while speaking, said that Turaki and his colleagues should seek reconciliation rather than pursuing a futile legal battle.
He said that the PDP remains committed to unity and democratic principles.
Akinoso said “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in Oyo State extends its warmest congratulations to the National Caretaker Committee, led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and all members of the party, on the recent judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, nullifying the Turaki-led PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15-16, 2025.
“We urge the Turaki-led group to seek reconciliation rather than pursuing a futile legal battle. The PDP remains committed to unity and democratic principles.
“The Oyo State PDP Caretaker Committee reaffirms its support for the National Caretaker Committee and pledges to work towards party unity and success in the 2027 general elections.
“We call on all PDP members to rally behind the party’s leadership and focus on rebuilding and strengthening our structures for electoral success.
