Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have taken into custody two individuals in connection with the killing of a six-year-old boy, Pemisere Bara, in Ebute Igboro, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.

The incident came to light after the boy’s father, Kehinde Bara, reported at the Ebute Igboro Police Station that his son had gone missing after being sent on an errand at about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police findings indicated that suspicion was directed at a woman identified as Rebecca Sunday, who was said to be living in the same compound with the victim’s family.

Investigations reportedly revealed that the suspect claimed she had earlier obtained a diabolical ring from one Oluibi Ajibola and was promised ₦150,000 to provide a child for an alleged ritual act.

Acting on the information, detectives, working with youths in the area, launched a search operation that led to the arrest of Ajibola.

The spokesperson for the command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed on Friday that the lifeless body of the child was later recovered from the Yewa River along the Ilaro–Oja Odan axis.

Babaseyi said both suspects were currently in police custody, adding that the matter had been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe and prosecution.
