Liverpool Football Club has announced that former manager Jurgen Klopp will make a sentimental return to Anfield, stepping into the dugout alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish for a legends charity fixture against Borussia Dortmund.
The German tactician, who departed Merseyside just 18 months ago, will take his place on the touchline for the March 28 encounter, which kicks off at 3pm GMT.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the club confirmed: “Jürgen Klopp has joined the Liverpool FC Legends management team for the upcoming game against Borussia Dortmund Legends.”
The 57-year-old will work alongside Dalglish in what promises to be an emotionally charged afternoon at the iconic stadium.
They will be supported by club ambassador Ian Rush and Forever Reds chairman John Aldridge.
The charity match, presented by AXA in association with Forever Reds, will feature a host of former Liverpool stars including Finnish defender Sami Hyypia, Brazilian left-back Fabio Aurelio, French full-back Gregory Vignal, versatile defender Martin Kelly, and Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun.
Klopp’s return marks a brief but significant reunion with the club where he enjoyed considerable success before stepping away from management last season.
