The police in Gombe State have confirmed the discovery of the remains of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha Abubakar, found in bushland on the outskirts of Kwami Local Government Area.

The incident was brought to the attention of the police around 12noon on Tuesday by the victim’s father, Malam Abubakar, who claimed his daughter was killed.

In a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the deceased had been dispatched to purchase soya beans on Sunday, January 26, 2026, at approximately 5:40 pm but never returned home.

“She was sent to buy soya beans on 26/01/2026 at about 1740hrs and did not return back home,” the statement read.

Abdullahi disclosed that the girl’s remains were found on Tuesday in bushland situated on the village outskirts.

“Unfortunately, her lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of the village today,” he stated.

The command’s image maker revealed that investigators immediately proceeded to the location, where they documented the scene through photographs for evidential purposes.

“Police detectives promptly visited the scene and photographed it,” he said.

He noted that initial examination suggested the victim might have experienced violent assault.

“Preliminary observation showed signs of violence,” the statement noted.

The remains were subsequently transferred to a medical facility for post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Abdullahi gave assurances that investigation into the matter has begun, noting that efforts are underway to track down and arrest those behind the killing.
