Activities resumed on Wednesday at the Federal Capital Territory Administration and its Ministries, Departments and Agencies as workers returned to their duty posts following a court directive halting the ongoing strike.
The development followed a ruling delivered on Tuesday by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, ordering workers under the Joint Union Action Committee to suspend the industrial action and allow room for negotiations.
Reacting to the judgment, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, called on the workers to comply fully with the court order and immediately resume work.
Wike stressed that although workers had the right to protest, obedience to court orders remained fundamental in a democratic society.
In compliance with the ruling, the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs Nancy Sabanti, issued a circular directing all Secretariats, Departments and Agencies to reopen for normal business.
The circular, dated January 27, 2026, instructed permanent secretaries and heads of MDAs to ensure strict monitoring of attendance, while assuring workers of the administration’s commitment to addressing their concerns.
A visit to the FCTA Secretariat and several government offices on Wednesday showed that many workers had resumed duties, with offices opening and routine activities gradually picking up.
The return of staff signalled a steady restoration of services across the Federal Capital Territory after days of disruption caused by the strike.
