FCTA Head of Service directs staff to resume duties Wednesday

Must read

Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, (FCTA), have instructed the striking staff to comply with the order by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, directing the union to suspend the ongoing industrial action.

In a statement by Nancy Sabanti Nathan, Head of the FCT Civil Service, on Tuesday, the service ordered all workers to resume duties on Wednesday, 28 January, 2026.

Consequently, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments and Agencies are directed to maintain Staff Attendance Register so as to take this order seriously.

Nancy also assured that Management is committed to the welfare of the staff members.

Recall that the FCTA staff, directed by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) embarked on an indefinite strike on January 19, 2026, affecting FCTA secretariats, departments, agencies, area councils, and parastatals.

Following this development, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, granted the interlocutory injunction filed by the FCTA Minister, Nyesom Wike and the FCT Administration, ordering the workers to end the strike, despite their unresolved welfare issues, including five months of unpaid salaries, promotion arrears, and poor working conditions.

Reacting to the court order in a video on Tuesday, the staff insisted in remaining at home until their demands are met.
