Again, Tinubu jets out of Nigeria, visits Ankara, Turkiye

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkiye, aiming to strengthen cordial relations between Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye.

This was disclosed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on information & Strategy on an x post. According to him, the president’s plane touched down at Ankara EsenboÄŸa Airport at 9.03 pm local time, on Monday.

He was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin. The Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other embassy officials were also on hand to welcome him.

Also, welcoming the president in the hotel, include Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa(rtd).

Others include the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, SAN; Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson; Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

Tinubu, during his visit will hold discussions with the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and also sign a Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries, among other engagements.

Their discussion is expected to explore a mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

This is about Tinubu’s second trip out of Nigeria this year.

According to reports, his visit at those countries aim to address economic challenges in Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu’s last journey at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on January 11, 2026, raised concern as many question his frequent traveling out of the country.

Tinubu spent about five days in Abu Dhabi, where he participated in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
