The Nigerian military has formally submitted its report on the alleged coup plot to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a critical step in the handling of the sensitive case involving several serving officers.
The report, compiled after weeks of internal investigations by military intelligence units, was handed over to the President in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, according to sources familiar with the development.
Furthermore, the investigation reportedly examined the activities and conduct of a group of officers earlier detained by the military over actions considered incompatible with service regulations and national security obligations.
Although details of the findings remain undisclosed, the submission places the final decision on possible disciplinary or legal action in the hands of the President.
According to Daily Trust, a senior security source noted that the military has “concluded its professional assessment and followed due process by forwarding the report for presidential review.”
Meanwhile, neither the Presidency nor the Defence Headquarters has publicly commented on the contents of the report or the next steps, as officials maintain tight control over information linked to the matter.
AFRIPOST reports that the development shows the military’s insistence on institutional discipline amid heightened public scrutiny and speculation surrounding the alleged plot.
